Chrome extensions are becoming more and more popular, and even if they might slow down the browser sometimes. they might be useful.
I want to talk to you about an extension that might come in handy if you need to contact someone over email. Important to say is that it only works about 50% of the times.
After you add the extension you need to create an account and validate it.
I tried it out with Linkedin , because here it will also add an extra button on every person profile that will say “email hunter”.
If the person’s profile is completed in proportion of about 80% and their job description is up to date you might be lucky. There’s also a percentage shown after they give you the address saying how sure they are that, they are correct.
I have to admit i tried it out on a few people on Linkedin that i already knew their email and for some it actually worked, showing me their valid email address.
If you are looking for a job for example and you want to e-mail that person directly in order to send them a cover letter, this extension might make it a bit easier. Just remember it’s not always 100% accurate, so sometimes you might have to do a bit more research.
You can also go on the Email Hunter website and check an email address to see if the person is still using it, or if it’s a spam address.
This is how the email address that is used for this website looks like if searched:
It’s saying that it might be a risky address since the user has just been created a week ago.
But this is how a spam email address will look like:
As you can see the server for that address is not working and it’s also marked as a invalid address, even though i just received a spam mail from it a couple minutes ago.
The extension is interesting enough at least to give it a try for fun, and who knows it might help you secure a job or connection with that employer that you tried to contact a million times before.
